McKinstry racing!

“McKinstry racing is steeped in history having been involved in the sport of motorcycle racing in some capacity or other for decades. Billy was a Motor Cycle Union of Ireland (MCUI) license holder over three decades (60's,70's & 80's) competing in Irish & International off-road competitions and as a sponsor himself he had enjoyed numerous successes and podium positions at British Championships, the Dutch TT, the Isle of Man, the North West 200 and the Ulster Grand Prix to name but a few. ”

2010 season

McKinstry racing's plans are already well underway for another season of racing in Ireland, England and the Isle of Man. A new rider has been 'signed' to ride for the Team and such is his dedication to perform he has decided to relocate to Ireland in his quest for glory in the Irish road race support championship.

At this stage we do not wish to reveal the name of the rider but we believe he has the potential to do extremely well in local road racing and perhaps even emulate our former Team rider Ivan Lintin in securing an Irish championship. Lets just say at the recent Kings of Wanneroo event our new rider was able to lap the Barbagallo race circuit within Three seconds of Jonathon Rea's lap time!

McKinstry racing will compete in the junior road race support championship on a Kawasaki ER-6, the senior road race support championship on a Yamaha R6 and selected Irish short circuit events.

2009 season

McKinstry racing's plans for a solid year of national road racing were in disarray when rider Ivan Lintin departed from the team mid-season. Despite this set back McKinstry racing continued to assist Wayne Hamilton in the Irish road race junior support championship where Wayne would end the season as champion. All at McKinstry racing would like to thank Ivan Lintin for all the success he achieved as part of the Team and wish him all the best for the future.

Successful 2007 season

The 2007 season saw the McKinstry racing team achieve success clinching the Irish 201-400cc road racing championship with rider Ivan Lintin at the final race at Killalane. As if that wasn't enough success, the team also helped Ivan to finish runner up in the Irish 750cc support road race championship with the bonus of finishing a highly credible 4th in the 250cc class at the Ulster Grand Prix!

Just some of the racers to have ridden for McKinstry racing down through the years are;

Ivan Lintin, 2007-2009
Mike Russell, 2008
Leon Donaghy, 2008
Jules Croft, 2008
Duncan Bailie, 2004/05
Trevor Steele 1980/81
Phil 'Mez' Mellor 1981/82
Courtney Junk 1983
Sam McClements 1984
Johnny Rea Senior, 1984
Robert Britton 1983/84
Pekki Nurmi from Finland, 1980
Foco Tibor from Austria, 1983

McKinstry racing also gave a bit of help to a few more road racers and moto/cross riders.
